Grid connection, applications and project coordination

Battery storage, PV system, charging park or data centre: nothing runs without a grid connection. We file the applications with the network operator, agree the metering concept and technology, coordinate subcontractors and trades, and commission the installation together with the network operator.

Grid connection and applications to the network operator

  • Low voltage

Notification of PV systems, batteries, heat pumps and charging equipment under VDE-AR-N 4105 and the network operator’s technical connection conditions, via its portal or form.

  • Medium voltage

Connection request, grid compatibility assessment and connection offer, documents under VDE-AR-N 4110 with the required unit and system certificates, agreement on the substation and protection concept.

  • High voltage

For very large capacities, such as data centres or large batteries, coordination with the distribution or transmission system operator (DNO/TSO) under VDE-AR-N 4120, together with the substation’s design engineers.

For plants under the German Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), the network operator must provide a schedule within one month of receiving the connection request and the result of the grid compatibility assessment within eight weeks of a complete application (Section 8(5) and (6) EEG). Where capacity is tight, feed-in power can be limited by technical measures, for example with a power plant controller (Section 8a EEG).

As an electrical installation business we are registered in the installer register of Stromnetz Berlin GmbH and as a guest installer with Westnetz, Avacon Netz, Schleswig-Holstein Netz, among others.

Project coordination

  • One point of contact

For the network operator, design engineers, subcontractors and trades. We hold the schedule and interfaces together, from civil works to protection systems.

  • Fixed inspection steps

From incoming materials through installation to commissioning. Anything that is not right is fixed before handover.

  • Documentation that holds up

Test records, circuit diagrams, certificates and evidence, complete and in order, for the network operator, insurers and later operation.

We prepare recurring project work such as network operator applications with AI-assisted workflows. The technical review stays with us; deadlines set by network operators and authorities remain as they are.

Commissioning

Testing and documentation to DIN EN 62446-1 and the relevant DIN VDE standards, protection testing at medium voltage, energisation with the network operator, completion notice and registration in the Marktstammdatenregister (national register of generation and storage units).

The experience comes from more than 20 years of commissioning in wind energy, at substations and offshore grid connections. Grid references

Charging parks and fast chargers

For charging parks and DC fast chargers we handle notification, grid connection and commissioning in the same way; charging equipment above 12 kVA requires the network operator’s prior consent (Section 19(2) NAV, the German low-voltage connection ordinance). Everything on charging points, load management and batteries at the charger: EV charging

How a connection project runs

  1. 01

    Clarify requirements

Capacity, voltage level, site and schedule, plus the responsible network operator and its application route.

  2. 02

    File the application

Grid connection request with all documents the network operator requires, followed through to the offer.

  3. 03

    Design and contract

Agree technology, metering and protection concept, commission subcontractors and trades.

  4. 04

    Build

Coordination on site with fixed inspection steps and ongoing documentation.

  5. 05

    Commission

Testing, energisation with the network operator, completion notice and handover.
