EV charging

EV charging for hotels, property owners and businesses

Wallboxes for guests and residents, DC fast chargers for company fleets, combined with a battery storage system if you wish. We design, notify the network operator, connect and commission.

Hotels

Wallboxes in the car park or garage for your guests, with central billing via charging card or app. We agree with you how charging is billed before the first wallbox goes up. Load management distributes the available power so that kitchen, spa and air conditioning do not compete with the charging points for the connection.

Owners’ associations and underground car parks

Underground car parks with wallboxes and load management: charging power is shared across the parking spaces so that the building’s connection is sufficient. Under German condominium law, every unit owner can demand permission to install a charging point (Section 20(2) WEG).

We design the base installation so that further parking spaces can be added later without new cable routes, and provide the property management with the documents for the owners’ meeting.

DC fast chargers for businesses and fleets

DC fast chargers for company vehicles, delivery fleets and customer car parks. What matters are dwell times, mileage and the existing grid connection; these determine the number and power of the charging points. Where vehicles are parked overnight, wallboxes are often enough in practice; fast chargers where things need to be quick.

Fast charging with battery storage

A DC fast charger draws high power from the grid for a short time. If the grid connection is too tight for this, it quickly becomes expensive: a larger connection takes time, and with demand metering every new load peak raises the capacity charge in the network tariff.

A battery at the charging point absorbs these peaks. It recharges at low power during breaks and releases the energy during fast charging. In practice this often makes it possible to offer more charging power than the grid connection alone would allow – and with a PV system on the roof, your own solar power is charged during the day too. More on peak shaving

Fast charging with storage is a growing topic for businesses with fleets and for sites where the grid connection is tight. Whether it pays off for you is shown by an analysis of the load profile and charging demand.

Why we can do this

Our Managing Director comes from wind energy: more than 20 years of commissioning plants with converters and inverters and connecting them to the grid, up to high voltage. Technically, a DC fast charger is also a power converter that turns alternating current from the grid into direct current for the vehicle battery. Grid connection, protection systems and commissioning are our daily business.

As a licensed electrical contractor we are registered in the installer register of Stromnetz Berlin GmbH and take care of design, DNO notification, grid connection and the coordination of the trades. Grid references

Network operators and rules

  • Notification – Charging equipment must be notified to the network operator before commissioning; above 12 kVA it requires the operator’s prior consent (Section 19(2) NAV, the German low-voltage connection ordinance).
  • Controllable consumer device – Wallboxes on the low-voltage grid can fall under Section 14a of the German Energy Industry Act (EnWG); the network operator may then limit their power during congestion, and in return the network charge is reduced.
  • Funding – whether a programme is currently open for your project is something we check case by case before you place the order. Funding

How a charging project runs

  1. 01

    Existing setup and needs

Building connection, distribution, parking spaces, dwell times and planned vehicles: these determine the charging power you really need.

  2. 02

    Design and quotation

Charging points, load management, cable routes, protection and billing, together with a binding quotation.

  3. 03

    Network operator

Notification of the charging equipment and, where necessary, an application for consent or a larger grid connection.

  4. 04

    Installation

Coordination of the trades, from civil works and cable pulling to mounting the charging points.

  5. 05

    Commissioning

Testing, documentation and commissioning by our licensed electrical contractor, briefing and handover.
